Dear fellow Classmates:
Our moment has arrived. Homecoming 2012 marks our Golden anniversary at StFX. Your life executive and a committed group of class members are planning a wonderful weekend of events, ceremonies, dinners and pub nights to mark this special occasion. We write to invite you to reconnect with your fellow classmates the weekend of September 28th, 29th and 30th.
Throughout our years at StFX, we met some of our best friends, made memories to last a lifetime and maybe even met the love of our lives. Our time at StFX was so special and it’s time to go back and relive all those special moments with each other again.
Although we may have changed a lot, so has StFX. Many campus renewal projects have ensured that StFX remains one of the top Universities in Canada. There are opportunities throughout the weekend to take a guided campus tour to see what StFX offers students today. You will have an opportunity to walk into some newly renovated residences, the Schwartz School of Business, the Physical Science Building and the Charles V. Keating Centre, which will house most of our events throughout the weekend.
Your organizing committee, in conjunction with the Alumni Office, has planned a memorable weekend for the class of 1962. The events begin, first thing Friday morning, at registration. Friday will continue with a special Golden Grads mass at the Chapel, where we will all get a special blessing and remember deceased classmates and those unable to attend Homecoming. Finally, there will be a bus trip to Crystal Cliffs for a Lobster Roll luncheon, a class meeting or the marvelous Welcome Home Dinner in the Charles V. Keating Centre at the end of the day. We also have a hospitality suite reserved at the Greenway Claymore Inn for Friday evening before the Welcome Home Dinner. Everyone is invited to come on down before we head back to campus for the night. Saturday and Sunday are also jam packed with the Hall of Honour ceremony, the Homecoming football game, the President’s Reception and Golden Grad Dinner, Homecoming Inn Pub Nights, Alumni Mass, Farewell Brunch and the list goes on and on. Please be sure to read the schedule that is attached to this letter, to help you plan for Homecoming weekend.
Alumni Affairs has a limited number of rooms blocked off for our class at the Greenway Claymore Inn (www.claymoreinn.com). To reserve a room, complete the enclosed reservation form and return it to the Alumni Office right away. You can find the tentative schedule, an attendee list and online registration on our class website. This website is strictly for class of 1962 events and is www.alumni.stfx.ca/classof1962.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of your reunion organizers below. You can also contact Alicia Mika, in Alumni Affairs at email@example.com or (902) 867-3760.
Hope to see you all this Fall!
