Homecoming 2012 - Class of 1982

Class of 1982 - 30 Year Reunion

*Homecoming Schedule has been updated as of August 22nd, 2012*

Dear Fellow Grads:

It’s been 30 years and it’s time to celebrate!

As your organizing committee, we are hopeful you will mark the dates of September 28, 29 & 30 on your calendar and make plans to come ‘home’ for Homecoming. For those of you who attended our 25th, you’ll recall (or maybe not) what a fantastic time we had and that we all just hated the weekend to end.  Another five years have sped by and it’s time, once again, to make a return trip to the ‘Nish.

So much to see:  You can take a walking tour of one of the most beautiful campuses in Canada. In 2009 the Coady Institute marked its 50th anniversary and celebrated the opening of its new $17 million facility. Oland Stadium – the totally renovated, state-of-the-art sports and track field opened in September 2009. The new, $23 million Gerald Schwartz School of Business opened in the fall of 2010. May 2011 marked the grand opening of The Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership.

So much to do:  Attend the Welcome Home Dinner on Friday night followed by the Homecoming Inn Pub Night at the Sub.  On Saturday morning, you can attend Coffee with Coady at 9:30 am and then head to the Hall of Honour Induction Ceremony at the Schwartz School of Business at 11:00 am.  If you’ve never ‘experienced’ either one of these events, they are well worth attending. At 2:00 pm, it’s time for our Homecoming Football Game.  If you’re not into football and tea is more your thing, then at 2:30 pm it’s teatime at the Mount St. Bernard Tea, in the Riley Lounge.  Saturday evening we get to spend time together at our Class of 1982 Dinner. During the dinner we will have a very short class meeting. We can guarantee the fun and frivolity will continue on into the night! Our beautiful chapel awaits those of us who wish to attend mass on Sunday morning at 11 am. Finally, it’s time for sustenance, hugs and goodbyes at the Farewell Brunch from 11 am - 1:30 pm. A complete rundown of the Homecoming schedule can be viewed on our class website at www.alumni.stfx.ca/classof1982.

Right now, you need to book your room. For your convenience, there is a list of hotels, motels and B&B’s attached to this letter.  As you know, hotel rooms are limited in the ‘Nish, so please book your room ASAP. Don’t despair if there is no availability. Ensure your name is on a wait list.  Inevitably rooms become available during the summer months and as Homecoming time draws near.

Please check our class website regularly www.alumni.stfx.ca/classof1982 for Homecoming updates, Homecoming chatter, check out who’s coming and countdown the days until Homecoming.

Time flies friends. Don’t let this Homecoming weekend pass you by. It’s time to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. As a recent 2010 grad said: “ . . . at X there’s an inner sense that when you’re here, you know you’re amongst friends.”

It’s time to come home.

We can’t wait to see you in September . . .
