*Homecoming Schedule has been updated as of August 22nd, 2012*
Greetings Class of ’97!
Did you realize that the upcoming 2012 StFX homecoming weekend marks the 15th anniversary of our graduation?
It’s a great reason to make your way back to X for a fun weekend to catch up with some old friends and spend time with other alumni and the current students. If you haven’t been back in a while, you’ll see that the campus has undergone some exciting changes in recent years.
This letter is your invitation to join us in the celebration. It’s all happening on the September 28th to September 30th weekend. Registration begins Friday morning at 10 am, in the Charles V. Keating Centre. Friday evening, join your fellow alumni at the Welcome Home Dinner, also in the Keating Centre. This classy dinner is a great way to kick-off the weekend and see friends you have lost touch with over the years. From there, we can all walk over to the Bloomfield Centre, for the Homecoming Inn Pub Night.
At 8 am, there is registration for the 5k fun run if you are so inclined… and then of course it’s time to cheer on the X Football team at 2 pm followed by a reception in the Oland Centre.
Saturday night is our official class of 1997 dinner, held in conjunction with some of the other classes (don’t worry, we won’t be the oldest). We will be taking the official class photo at this event so try to attend if you can. This is also a great event to attend before we all head up to the MacKay room for the Homecoming Inn Pub Night.
We encourage you to register for homecoming in advance through the StFX website or by sending the enclosed registration form back to the Alumni Office. To register online, purchase your dinner tickets, get updates on our class events, and to see who else is coming, please visit our class webpage at www.alumni.stfx.ca/classof1997. Detailed information and the full schedule for the weekend will be available on the StFX homecoming website (www.alumni.stfx.ca/homecoming2012).
Now’s the time to start bugging your old housemates, friends and classmates to plan the trip, because this weekend will be here before you know it!
Antigonish hotels are already quite booked up for homecoming this year, so start calling early. Enclosed you will find a list of local accommodations so be sure to reserve your room right away. If your hotel of choice is booked, ask to be put on their waiting list as rooms do become available during the summer months. Guest’s plans do change, so just hang tight.
We’re looking forward to seeing you in the fall…until then, Hail and Health!
The Class of ’97 Life Officers,
Krista (Morrison) Nauss
Christine (MacDonald) Gleed
