Summer 2012 Update
The Montreal Chapter has been busy hosting several events rejuvenating local Alumni. A new location, Thompson House (McGill University), for the annual St.FX Day celebration was a pleasant evening. On December 1, 2011 50 alumni both very recent to very experienced gathered to toast the day. Claire Gelinas, a distance education student, spoke of the challenges and rewards of being part of the x community even though she is studying for her degree in Montreal.
The Montreal chapter was pleased to host a President’s Reception at the McCord Museum on March 1, 2012. Dr. Sean Riley and Tim Lang were present and gave an enthusiastic group of alumni an update on campus life, current events and upcoming projects.
McKibbon’s Irish Pub was the site for our annual AGM on April 1, 2012. A review of the past year with more than 10 events was discussed. The executive committee was re-elected. Sadly Ellen Comeau has chosen not to continue as secretary and her commitment will be missed.
A young alumni event is scheduled for June 3rd at 4pm at the Burgundy Lion. Tentatively a family day/student send off/ golf afternoon is scheduled for August 11, 2012 ( Location and time TBA). Please save the date for the annual St.FX celebration on Thursday November 29th, 2012
