StFX Alumni Chapter

Welcome to the Pictou County Chapter.

Did you know that our group represents one of the largest in the country with approximately 2000 members?

The Pictou County Chapter has been active now for 3-4 years. We started out with a social evening at the Dock on May 24, 2003. This event was held to gauge if there was any interest in reforming a dormant Chapter. President Riley, National Alumni President Bill Kiley, Packy MacFarland, along with Alumni Affairs Director Noreen Nunn joined us for the evening. It was a great success with close to 200 alumni in attendance representing a wide range of classes.

Since then we have hosted several events.

Annually, we host an Information Session in February for high school students and their parents. The purpose of this session is to provide tips on admission requirements, helpful course selection in high school, information on bursaries and scholarships as well as the Student Loan program. The first session was held in 2006 with close to 100 in attendance. The 2007 session had 50 people in attendance.

We also host a Summer Send Off, usually in August, for freshman students and their parents. This typically has close to 100 in attendance for a BBQ and information session. Click here for a write up from our event in 2006. Click here and here for news clippings.

Our third annual event is a StFX Day event. Our first December 3 event was held in 2004 at St John's Parish for a mass followed by reception at the New Glasgow Stadium. In 2005 the mass was again at St John's with a reception at the Roseland Cabaret. No event was organised in 2006.

Jan 12, 2006 we hosted the President's Reception at the Museum of Industry.
